President’s message

Dear Colleagues,

It is my honor and pleasure to welcome you all to the “ISLAND MEETING – Updates in Ophthalmology” – the 32nd annual scientific congress of the College of Ophthalmologists of Sri Lanka, which will take place from 12th-15th of September 2024 at Cinnamon Grand Hotel Colombo. This year it will be a combined conference with the Association of Vitreo Retina Specialists.

The meeting breakdown will be as follows –

  • 12th September – Paediatric Ophthalmology Day (3rd Congress of SAO-POSA and a session by the APSPOS
  • 13th September – Retina Day
  • 14th September – Uveitis, SDGs and Ophthalmology, emergencies/trauma, cornea, ocular oncology, AI in Ophthalmology, plastics/orbits
  • 15th September – Cataract, Ocular genetics, medical retina, neuro-opthalmology, glaucoma

Innovation and advances in Ophthalmology have gained pace once again, after the slow down due to the Covid 19 pandemic. This year’s meeting attempts to summarize all these advances by focusing on updates.

This congress is an unparalleled opportunity to connect with fellow ophthalmologists from around the world, learn from leading experts in the field, and discover the latest advancements in ophthalmology.

Over the course of the congress, participants will have the opportunity to attend keynote lectures, panel discussions, workshops and round table discussions covering a wide range of topics related to ophthalmology.
